TROY- Troy University’s Trojan Vision television and senior broadcast journalism student Mary King took top honors at the 22nd annual meeting of the Southeastern Journalism Conference held recently at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Miss.
Trojan Vision was named the Best College Television Station during the annual event, which is comprised of 40 colleges and universities from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.
King of Bethany, Conn., the daughter of George and Aggie King, was named Best College Television Journalist. King is currently completing an internship with Fox News in New York City.
Dr. Jeff Spurlock, associate professor in the University’s Hall School of Journalism, said that TROY has won Best College Television Station for the past five years, but this year’s conference marked the first time that a TROY student has taken top television journalist honors.
“This is a great accomplishment for TROY and for Mary,” Dr. Spurlock said.
Also during the conference, Dr. Spurlock was named president of the SEJC for 2011-2012, and Troy University was named host of the convention in 2012.
