ARLINGTON, Va.—A grand opening event was held on Thursday, May 20 to celebrate the relocation of the Troy University site located in Arlington, Va. Over 60 people attended the event, including local business people and TROY students, alumni, faculty and staff.
The event theme, Stories of Success, encompassed not only the story of Troy University, but also highlighted a number of TROY alumni, explaining the paths to success they took after graduating. Kris Breaux, one of the alumni, was a speaker at the event, as well.
Dr. Chris Burge, Troy University Atlantic Regional Director, gave the opening remarks at the event. A number of speakers followed, including Breaux, Arlington County Board Chairman Jay Fisette, Assistant Property Manager of Lincoln Property Company Alex Silano and TROY Arlington Site Director Les Wright. After a champagne toast and a ribbon cutting ceremony, guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and Corner Bakery and Café desserts.
The Arlington site is currently offering online courses to its students through online degree programs delivered through TROY’s eCampus. The site will serve as a student services center and will offer two associate degrees, nine bachelor’s and seven master’s programs through eCampus. Additionally, the Arlington site will offer onsite graduate, along with a selection of undergraduate, courses in a blended learning/hybrid format. The site will also provide academic advising and student services support which consists of admissions, registration and testing.
This site will also be available for public use during daytime hours. Local businesses are now able to use the TROY classroom space for meetings, get-togethers, etc. effective immediately.
