TROY - Military Times has named Troy University as one of the top "Best for Vets" four-year institutions in the country for the sixth year in a row.

The organization publishes the "Army Times," the "Navy Times," the "Air Force Times," and the "Marine Corps Times" newspapers, and is published by Sightline Media Group, formerly Gannett Government Media, an independent publishing company reporting on military news and information.

"External validation is always important, but the integrity that the Military Times ranking offers as objective news reporting is a strong indication that Troy University,s support of our veterans and active military members is hitting the right mark," said Dr. Don Jeffrey, Vice Chancellor of the University,s Global Campus that serves students outside the state of Alabama and online.

An independent news project, Military Times conducted and scored a nearly 80-question analysis of a school,s complete offerings for veterans. "Best for Vets" provides service men and women a gauge by which to judge whether a school or program will truly benefit them. The rankings factor in academic quality, outcomes and policies, school culture, student support and cost. More than 600 colleges took part in this year,s survey.

A public university, TROY has taken steps in recent years to become more military friendly and is recognized annually for its efforts as being one of the most military friendly schools in the United States. Its Troy for Troops Center offers a variety of student support services. Home based in Troy, Alabama, the University has four campuses in the state, and on- or near-base activities both in the U.S. and abroad, and offers extensive online degree programs through its eTROY campus.
