Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies Biography 

                                           Philip L. Welch

Philip L. Welch is an Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies for the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 017 at Troy University, Troy, Alabama.

Mr. Welch is a native of Roseville, MI. He entered the USAF after graduating from Roseville High School in 1993. After enlisting, he served as an Air Transportation Journeyman for just under six years before being selected for the Scholarship for Outstanding Airmen to ROTC (SOAR) commissioning program. He was commissioned in 2003 after receiving his bachelor’s degree at the University of Michigan. His deployment experience includes seven months in the International Zone, Baghdad, Iraq and six months in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Mr. Welch was a Logistics Readiness Officer with experience in both Aerial Port and Logistics Readiness Squadrons. Prior to his current assignment he was the Director and an Instructor for the Contingency Wartime Planning Course at the LeMay Center on Maxwell AFB, AL. His military decorations include the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster (OLC), the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal with two OLCs, the Army Commendation Medal and the Air Force Achievement Medal with six OLCs.
