Pre-Optometry Program
Minimal Requirements for Entrance
- General Biology or Zoology (8 hours)
- Cell Biology with lab
- Microbiology with lab
- General Chemistry 1142, 1143 with lab (8 hours)
- Organic Chemistry 3342, 3343 with lab (8 hours)
- General Physics 2252, 2253 with lab (8 hours)
- Math 1125 (Calculus)
- English (10 hours)
- Statistics (one semester)
- Psychology* (6 hours)
- Behavioral Science**
*A statistics course taken in a psychology department may not be counted for fulfillment of the psychology requirement.
**Any combination of 2 semesters in sociology, economics, anthropology, history, political science, or additional psychology.

Minimum requirement is 3 years of college; majority of applicants have a 4 year college degree. Candidates with a bachelor's degree are given preferential consideration.
Degree / Major
Any major is acceptable as long as you meet the minimal entrance requirements. Preferred majors include Biology, Psychology, or Physical Sciences.
