On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Sorrell College of Business at Troy University.
At the heart of what we do in the college is exemplified by our mission statement, to "prepare our diverse student body to become ethical professionals equipped to compete in the global business environment."
This mission is carried out by an extensive group of dedicated faculty and staff, which take great pride in fostering our students through a "culture of caring." We have a long history and tradition in getting to know our students on a personal level and carefully mentoring students throughout their time with us. As a graduate of the Sorrell College of Business, you will become part of an elite and very successful body of alumni. TROY alumni lead companies and communities not only in our state and region, but throughout the world.
Also of importance to future students, is the focus the college places on internationalization—from the global scope of the curriculum to exciting study abroad programs. We view international activities as a foundational piece of meaningful business education in order to produce graduates who are prepared for the challenges of a globally competitive economy.
In addition to student preparation and success, we make significant contributions to regional economic development through our exceptional research capabilities and "hands on" outreach programs that encourage entrepreneurship, facilitate trade and help businesses grow. The recently established Manuel H. Johnson Center for Political Economy, in the Division of Economics, provides a dynamic and rigorous education program focused on the moral imperatives of free markets and individual liberty, as well as relevant policy research on current and local issues. The Center for International Business and Economic Development and the Small Business Development Center conduct numerous seminars and workshops throughout the year addressing topics important to business owners. These Centers provide quality research and consulting services to businesses and organizations that truly contributes to improving the quality of life in the communities we serve.
The college strives to continuously improve both the website and information we provide to our visitors. I encourage you to explore all available academic programs, from our tradition-rich accounting degrees to distinctive majors such as Risk Management and Insurance and Human Resource Management.
Again, thank you for visiting the website and if you have any further questions please feel free to contact my office.
