The Southeast Community Development Institute (CDI) is designed to train those engaged, or wishing to engage, in community development. Techniques taught are beneficial to all in the community and revolve around management, leadership and basic community development principles (which include economic, workforce and leadership development).

Who should attend?

Community officials and volunteers associated with city, county, and state government, chambers of commerce, private and public sector economic development organizations, utility companies, main street organizations, workforce development professionals and financial institutions will find the institute a valuable learning tool for the development of individual and community leadership skills.

Professional Community and Economic Developer (PCED) - Enhance your career by becoming a Professional Community and Economic Developer (PCED). CDI helps prepare you for this nationally-recognized certification offered through the Community Development Council (CDC). In order to earn the PCED certification, you must first qualify to take the examination through a point process earned through job experience and relevant education and training. Registration for Years 1, 2, and 3 is $600 before August 31, 2015 and $650 after. Registration fees cover training/instruction, participant materials, breakfast and refreshment breaks. Accommodations and all other meals are the responsibility of the participant. Register online at by September 30, 2015.

Deadline for registration is April 3, 2014 and no refunds and/or substitutions after April 10, 2015 will be allowed. Attendance is mandatory to receive certification and registration is not complete until payment is received.

Attendance at all sessions is required to earn full credit. If a participant misses more than 10 percent of the course sessions, credit for course completion will not be given. Completion of CDI earns one PCED certification or re-certification point.
