Newman Center
The Troy University Foundation and the
Catholic Archdiocese of Mobile gathered
on Aug. 18 to dedicate the new
John Henry Cardinal Newman Center
Alumni of the Year
The Troy University Alumni Association has
named Andy Davis, Sandra Gouge, Bobby Terrell
and Lon Wise as the 2013 Alumni of the Year.
Dr. Long Honored
Dr. John M. Long, director of bands emeritus,
was recently honored with the Alabama Sports
Festival Foundation’s Healing Hands Award,
the organization’s highest honor.
A Great College to Work For
The Chronicle of Higher Education, the
nation’s leading news source on higher education,
has named TROY to its 2013 list of “Great
Colleges to Work For.” The University was
selected in the “Work/Life Balance” category.
1-2-1 Commencement
Thirty-five students received TROY
diplomas in China in June, marking the 10th
commencement ceremony for the University’s
1-2-1 Sino-American Dual Degree program.
Study Abroad
More than 100 Troy University students took to
the air and sea with their studies from late spring
through the summer, broadening their horizons to
include Europe, Asia, Asia Minor, the Middle East,
South America and the Caribbean Sea.
The home football game against
Savannah State on Saturday, Sept. 7,
also included the annual International
Parade of Flags, in which TROY’s
international students are recognized. Each year during
a home game, students representing all of the nations
at TROY march onto the field carrying the flags of
their home countries. This fall, there are nearly 900
international students studying at the Troy Campus,
representing 69 nations
