University garners Alabama Quality Award

Troy University was honored in December as a Level 2 – Progress Toward Excellence Award winner by the Alabama Quality Award sponsored by the Alabama Productivity Center.

The award, presented during a ceremony in Orange Beach, recognizes and honors organizations whose past or recent innovations in areas of production, service or management have resulted in increased productivity and quality.

“The 2010 Alabama Quality Award designation serves to validate our efforts at being a leader in higher education,” said Dr. John Dew, Senior Vice Chancellor of Student Services and Administration.

“Increased productivity and quality in this instance means getting more mileage out of the University’s existing resources and TROY’s level of performance in these areas is a key to keeping us competitive,” he said. “Chancellor Hawkins has placed a premium on stewardship and innovation and this award is but one measure of the results of that operational philosophy.”

In submitting its application package the University had to demonstrate excellence in student learning outcomes, student and stakeholder satisfaction, financial stewardship, strategic planning and leadership, Dr. Dew said.
