Ben Stanfield (2010)
been promoted to the position
of weekend sports anchor for
WTVY News 4 in Dothan.
Meghan Branum (2011)
was one of two masters of
ceremonies to celebrate the
grand opening of Hyundai
Power Transformers USA.
Maggie Schmidt (2011)
recently joined New Brockton
High School as director of the
marching band.
Laura Erin Watley
was selected to
the mathematics doctoral
program at the University of
Alabama. Watley was offered
a full scholarship, including
all tuition costs, books and
a generous stipend to attend
the program. She will also
be considered a part-time
employee for the university
due to her graduate teaching
assistant position.

Michelle Boyce (2007)
graduated in 2011 from
Auburn University with a
Master of Education in music
education. She received her
bachelor’s degree in music
education from TROY. She
is currently the director of
bands at Bayside Academy in

, graduated summa

in Montgomery.

reddie Pierce (2010)
art director and branding
director for WDM Group, a
digital publishing company
headquartered in San
Diego, Calif., that oversees
production and development
of 23 independent brands.
Pierce has been with the
company since 2010 and
became creative designer
within two weeks of his
hiring. In 2011, Pierce
became department head of
the company’s Interactive
Department and later led
the merger between the
company’s Marketing and
Interactive departments.
Pierce is also credited
as the co-creator of
BusinessFriend – a new
business social networking
site conceptualized by the
company’s founder, Glen
White. BusinessFriend is set
to launch this year.

activities, which honored the University’s faculty and staff.
Troy University was well represented at the Davis family Christmas gathering.
From left to right: Michael Davis, a 2006 sports management graduate; Michael’s
father, Dave Davis, a 1978 environmental sciences graduate; Dave’s father, Jackie
“Coach” Davis, a 1950 TROY graduate; and “Coach” Davis’ younger son, Russell,
who began his college studies at TROY in 1973 before finishing his business
administration degree from the University of Maryland while serving in the Army.
While at TROY, Michael, who is currently employed by the Alabama Department of
Corrections, was a pitcher on the Trojans’ baseball team and served as president
of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Dave was a founding father and major officer
of the Sigma Pi fraternity during his time at TROY and currently supervises the
Superfund Program for the Alabama Department of Environmental Management.
Dave retired from the military with 31 years of combined service with the Army, the
Army National Guard and the Army Reserve. “Coach” Davis played offensive end on
the Trojan football team and later went on to serve as head coach at Elmore County
and Tallassee high schools and principal of Stanhope Elmore High School. “Coach”
Davis is also a retired Alabama Army National Guard major. Russell, who currently
serves as director of the Alabama Homebuilders Association, was a member of the
Pi Kappa Phi fraternity during his time at TROY.
