TROY – Troy University’s School of Accounting will host its 16th annual Accountancy Day Tuesday.
“As always, the highlight of this year’s program will be the recognition of many outstanding accounting students,” said Dr. Kaye Sheridan, director of the School of Accountancy of the Sorrell College of Business. “We are extremely proud of the accomplishments of our students and we look forward to honoring these students during the 2007 Accountancy Day Program.”
The program begins with “Practitioners in the Classroom,” that brings certified public accountants to accounting students to share current trends and practices in accounting. Representatives of CPA firms Jackson Thornton & Co.; Wilson, Price, Barranco, Blankenship & Billingsley; PricewaterhouseCoopers; Draffin & Tucker; L. Paul Kassouf & Co.; and Ernst & Young will present from 8:30 a.m. until 11:20 a.m. in rooms 232 and 238 of Bibb Graves Hall.
The program will continue with the recognition of the sponsors, the outstanding accounting students, the Young Alumnus of the Year in Accounting, and the Accounting Hall of Honors Inductees. Guest speaker Bryan Townsend from Talladega, Ala. will provide the keynote address during the awards luncheon in the Trojan Center Ballrooms from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m.
“Alumni and special friends of the Troy University School of Accountancy will also be recognized during our program,” said Sheridan.
A practitioner/guest reception will be in the Bibb Graves conference room from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
