“American Tapestry” takes to the Troy University stage

TROY -- The Collegiate Singers of Troy University will perform a concert entitled “American Tapestry: Songs of the People” at 7:30 pm. Oct. 30 in the Claudia Crosby Theater.

The Collegiate Singers, the largest choral ensemble at Troy University, will be under the direction of Dr. Catherine Allard, Professor of Music.

Visiting professor Dai Yuan, from Yunnan University in the People’s Republic of China, will sing two Yunnan province folk songs as part of the performance.

Songs also include “Shenandoah,” “Home on the Range,” “Comin’ Round the Mountain,” and many more. It will end with Edwin Fissinger’s “America the Beautiful.” The concert will be a tribute to the music of America’s formative years.

The concert is free and open to the public.
