Amber Dodson crowned Miss Troy University

TROY, Ala.—Amber Dodson was crowned Miss Troy University Sunday afternoon at the 37th annual Miss Troy University pageant to earn the right to represent the University in next year’s Miss Alabama Pageant.

Miss Dodson, a senior nursing major from Cullman, is the daughter of Lisa and Greg Dodson. A graduate of Cullman High School, Dodson also won the talent and swimsuit competitions and was the winner of the People’s Choice Award.

Miss Dodson was crowned by Laura McDonald of Prattville, Miss Troy University 2007. Contestants competed in private interview, casual wear, swimsuit, talent, evening wear and on-stage question.

Other members of the top five were: First runner-up Megan Picklesimer, a freshman broadcast journalism major from Chelsea; second runner-up Kaetlin Hall, a senior biology and English major from Niceville, Fla.; third runner-up Summer Hovey, a junior psychology major from Dothan; and, fourth runner-up Jennifer Sewell, a junior athletic training major from Cottonwood.

Kathryn Hobgood, a sophomore psychology major from Semmes, was named Miss Congeniality. Aaron Taylor of TrojanVision television served as emcee for the event.
