TROY -- Troy University’s John M. Long School of Music and the Troy Arts Council will present its 10th Annual Brass Symposium Feb. 22 – 23, culminating in the Festival of Brass Concert at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 23.
The program on Friday will feature performances by the Blue Lake Brass Quintet. This group, which comprises faculty members of the Blue Lake International Fine Arts Camp, consists of Dr. Jon Burgess and Dr. James Zingara, trumpets; Eric Brummitt, horn; Dr. Jeanie Lee, trombone; and James Langenburg, tuba. This concert will be at the Hawkins-Adams-Long Hall of Honor on the TROY campus.
“The event will offer the ceremony, the scope and variety of a typical band concert, and will conclude with a spectacular mass finale comprised of more than 100 performers,” said James Zingara, an associate professor of music who coordinates the symposium.
The Festival of Brass concert will be on Saturday in the Claudia Crosby Theater. This concert involves a full day of clinics associated with the symposium for middle school, high school and college-level students, Zingara said.
The evening program will feature another performance by the Blue Lake Brass Quintet. The TROY Trumpet Ensemble, the Southeast Alabama Brass Company, the Troy Symphony Brass Quintet and several high school student honors ensembles will also perform.
