TROY – Troy University’s Relay for Life is scheduled for April 5 from 3 p.m. until 3 a.m. April 6 on the University’s band practice field.

Entertainment begins at 3 p.m. with a survivors’ reception at 5 p.m. and opening ceremonies at 6 p.m.

“We invite everyone to come out and join us as we celebrate life with those who have won their battle with cancer and remember those we have lost to this dreaded disease,” said Kay Franklin, a community representative with the American Cancer Society.

“We have lots of great entertainment and activities planned for everyone, so bring your lawn chair and join us for a good time,” she added.

The University’s Relay for Life event began last year as a way for TROY students to get involved in the Cancer Society’s major fundraising event. The city-wide Relay for Life is normally held in May, after many students have left the Troy Campus.

The Cancer Society currently funds more than $3 million for cancer research in Alabama. More information on the event can be accessed on the internet at
