Troy University’s Spring Fling Parade set for March 29

TROY – Troy University will hold its Spring Fling Parade on Saturday, March 29, and local businesses and organizations are invited to take part in the event.

The Spring Fling Parade, which will begin at noon and progress through the Troy Campus along University Avenue, is being held in lieu of the University’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The parade will coincide with the University’s annual Spring Alumni Reunion and Spring Preview Day for prospective students.

“The TROY Admissions Office will be hosting Preview Day for prospective students and their parents so this will give your business or organization a great opportunity to showcase itself to not only our local community, but to an important group of visitors as well,” said Parade Coordinator Buddy Starling. “At the conclusion of the parade, participants are invited to enjoy some of the other events happening on campus.”

Starling said parade entries may take several forms, such as floats, cars, trucks, golf carts, scooters or groups wishing to walk. To reserve a spot in the parade or for additional information, contact Starling at 334-670-3243.

The parade is one of several events scheduled for that day. The annual Nick Costes Run will take place at 8 a.m., while Spring Preview Day for prospective students and their parents will get under way at 9 a.m. Special tailgating events are planned following the parade on the Shackelford Quad and a spring football scrimmage will take place at 1:30 p.m. in Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium. At 6 p.m., the Trojans baseball team will take on New Orleans at Riddle-Pace Field. In addition, TROY alumni are invited to take part in the annual Spring Reunion Banquet, beginning at 6 p.m. in the Trojan Center Ballroom, and a Young Alumni Band Party on the Shackelford Quad at 9 p.m. Tickets to the banquet are $25, and reservations may be made by contacting the Office of Alumni Affairs at 670-3318.
