TROY- Troy University Department of Theatre and Dance, the John M. Long School of Music and the Troy Arts Council presents “FOOTLOOSE, the musical” June 26 – 28 in the Claudia Crosby Theatre.
Based on the original screenplay by Dean Pitchford, with music by Tom Snow and lyrics by Dean Pitchford, the musical will begin at 7:30 p.m. June 26 - 27 and on June 28 at 2:30 p.m. in a community wide theatrical experience.
Pitchford’s resume reaches back to 1984 when “FOOTLOOSE” was created. He’s performed on Broadway, appeared on soundtracks and has won two Oscars, one Golden Globe and nominated for many more awards. The musical’s original soundtrack album reached number one on the Billboard charts and has sold more than 15 million copies. The Top-40 score was nominated for an Oscar and new songs have been added for the stage production.
Set in a small farming community which has, among other items, outlawed dancing, the “FOOTLOOSE” celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people, guiding them with a warm heart and an open mind.
