TROY—Troy University officials have cancelled classes in four buildings on the Troy Campus for Tuesday, Aug. 26, due to a power outage.
The following academic buildings are without power: McCall Math/Science Complex, Malone Hall, Wright Hall and Eldridge Hall. Classes will not be held in these buildings until 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
Members of the Troy University staff who work in these buildings should report to work Tuesday.
In addition, four residence halls, Shackelford, Gardner, Hamil and Cowart, are without power, affecting 500 students. Other buildings affected by the outage are the Trojan Center, the Davis Field House and the Trojan Oaks Pro Shop.
Dean of Students Herb Reeves said the outage was caused when a tree fell across power lines on Luther Drive behind the Trojan Center, snapping a utility pole. City of Troy crews responded around 4 a.m. University officials expect power to be restored to the campus by 5 p.m. Tuesday.
