Sept. 29: The Troy University Sorrell College of Business and Troy Bank and Trust will host a public forum entitled: “Understanding The Financial Crisis” from 5:30 pm until 7 pm in the Community Room at Troy Bank & Trust, 1000 Hwy 231 Bypass (next to Lowe’s).
Mr. Robert Earl Stewart, associate professor of finance, at Troy University and Dr. Judson Edwards, associate professor of economics, are the presenters. Mr. Stewart will discuss the current state of the financial markets and explain the impact of the mortgage crisis on the banking system. Dr. Edwards will present data on current economic trends and remark on the general conditions of the national and state economy.
Mr. Stewart has an extensive knowledge of financial markets and has been quoted in Money magazine, and other national publications. He has taught finance at the University for 40 years and serves on the board of directors of First Federal Bank, based in Tuscaloosa with offices in Birmingham, Huntsville, Mobile, Orange Beach and Pensacola. First Federal has specialized in mortgage origination since 1991. In addition, Mr. Stewart has held seminars loan officers at commercial banks, conducted financial statement analysis seminars for certified public accountants, and, through the University’s Small Business Development Center, provided financial and management seminars for small business leaders. He specializes in the areas of corporate finance cash flow, financial mathematics, real estate finance, commercial bank management and financial markets.
