Vardaman named associate provost at Troy University

TROY—D. Lee Vardaman Jr. has been named Associate Provost for Academic Support at Troy University, according to Dr. Ed Roach, Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost.

Responsibilities of this position include coordination and administration of academic technology initiatives and projects, academic legal issues, personnel issues, budget preparation and management of faculty records and contracts.

Dr. Vardaman currently serves as Senior Director of Human Resources for Troy University. He joined the University’s professional staff in 2000 as Director of Human Resources. Prior to joining the TROY staff, Vardaman was the human resources manager and information technology manager for the Southeast Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission.

“Lee’s role as the Senior Director of Human Resources will serve him well as he moves into his new position of Associate Provost for Academic Support,” Dr. Roach said. “His expertise and experience will be a tremendous asset to the management of the academic division, which is the largest division of the University.”

Dr. Vardaman received baccalaureate and master’s degrees from the University of Alabama and his doctorate in education leadership, policy and law from Alabama State University. He and his wife, Shellye, a member of the Troy University School of Nursing faculty, live in Troy with their daughter Morgan and son Trey.
