MONTGOMERY—Ken Selvaggi, vice president and general manager for WSFA 12 News, challenged Troy University Montgomery Campus graduates to become leaders and make an impact on their communities.

Selvaggi delivered the keynote address during the Montgomery Campus fall commencement ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. in the Davis Theatre for the Performing Arts. TROY Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr. presented diplomas to 205 graduates.

Selvaggi told the graduates their leadership will be needed during these troubled times.

“Be leaders—lead with integrity, passion and compassion,” Selvaggi said.

Selvaggi encouraged graduates to use their new degrees to realize future goals and to become active members of their communities.

“Give your time and talents to help your community,” he said.

Today’s graduates face an increasingly challenging economic climate, Selvaggi said. He challenged them to persevere and look ahead to a brighter future.

“We need to look ahead to see the rich possibilities that blossom when we are forced to view our surroundings through different lenses,” Selvaggi said.

Prior to joining WSFA, Selvaggi was president and general manager of KSNT, the NBC affiliate in Topeka, Kansas. He previously worked in news management for 20 years at television stations in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Kentucky.
