TROY – Troy University’s John M. Long School of Music, the College of Communication and Fine Arts and the Troy Arts Council will present its eleventh annual Brass Symposium Concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21 in the Claudia Crosby Theatre.
“This concert is the culmination of the activities involved with the Troy University Brass Symposium which is a full day of clinics for middle school, high school and college-level students,” said Dr. James Zingara, a professor of trumpet and coordinator of the symposium.
The evening program will feature performances by Dr. Zingara, Dr. Doug Bristol, professor of trombone at Alabama State University, Mr. Jeff Leenhouts, principal hornist of the Pensacola and Mobile Symphonies and Mr. Michael Keeley, adjunct instructor of trumpet at Troy University. In addition, the TROY Trumpet Ensembles I and II, the Southeast Alabama Brass Company, the Troy Symphony Brass Quintet and several honors ensembles made up of area high school students will perform.
“The event will offer the ceremony, scope and variety of a typical band concert and will conclude with a spectacular mass finale comprised of more than one hundred performers,” Dr. Zingara said.
