TROY—ABC television’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” will build a new home for one Montgomery family and Troy University’s campus television station will be on hand to document the project.
Troy University has entered into an agreement to produce an hour-long “pre-show” that will air on the campus television station, TrojanVision, and later on the Capital City Connection channel, which Troy University operates for the City of Montgomery. The segment will air in April in the 6-7 p.m. CDT time slot immediately preceding the ABC episode featuring the Montgomery project, according to Kyle Bozeman, television manager at Troy University. The show’s air date has not been determined.
“Our journalism students will interview various participants and stakeholders for the show,” Bozeman said. “It will be excellent experience for them and will make good programming for TrojanVision.”
TrojanVision programming airs in 20 cities Alabama and Columbus, GA. through 17 cable TV companies. To find out how to view TrojanVision in your community, visit www.troy.edu and visit the station website, found under “Quick Links.”
Five families in the Montgomery area are being considered for the new home after being nominated by someone in the community. One family will be surprised when Ty Pennington, team leader of the show, and his design team, knock on the family’s front door on Monday, Feb. 16, and learn that their home has been chosen for the show.
“This is a very involved process,” Bozeman said. “The show is soliciting volunteers from across the region because they are going to get all the work done in one week.”
Troy University is encouraging students from its campuses in Montgomery and Troy to volunteer to help build the house. Aronov Homes is the builder for the Montgomery project. For more information on volunteer opportunities, visit aronovhomes.com.
