DOTHAN—Human resources professionals will learn how to help their businesses grow during the 10th annual Wiregrass Human Resources and Management Forum at Troy University’s Dothan Campus on Thursday, April 16.
The event is sponsored by the TROY Continuing Education Center and the Wiregrass Human Resource Management Association.
This year’s theme is “Cultivating Your Organization’s HR Landscape” and the focus is on helping HR professionals find innovative solutions to changing problems, said Kathy Farley, continuing education coordinator.
“The goal is to help HR managers cultivate their organizations in a way that grows and helps the organization in light of today’s changing legislation,” Farley said.
The forum is designed for managers, directors and HR professionals who are concerned about employees in their organizations. Topics discussed during the forum will include hiring temporary or contingent workers, layoffs, reorganizations and legal issues.
Special speakers for the day include motivational speaker John Riley, Mary Beth Maddox of PR Companies, and Tish Matuszek, an associate professor of management in TROYs Sorrell College of Business.
The forum will be held inside Sony Hall in the Library Technology Building. Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. and the forum will conclude at 3:30 p.m.
Registration is $50 for WHRMA members, $75 for non-members and $25 for students. Lunch is included in the cost and door prizes will be given away.
Participants in the forum will receive five continuing education units and the program has been approved for 3.25 (General ) recertification credit hours toward PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification through the HR Certification Institute.
