TROY – Six risk management and insurance students at Troy University have been awarded summer internships in the insurance industry.
Patrick McGlon, a senior from Mobile, will intern at AllRisk in Baltimore, MD. Formed in 1964 as an excess and surplus lines facility, the company offers the broadest spectrum of wholesale solutions with four operating units: contract binding, brokerage, national programs and personal lines.
Jacob Preston, from Birmingham, and Chance Gilliland, of Oneonta, will intern with NAPSLO, the National Association of Professional Surplus Line Offices. Preston will intern in San Antonio, TX and Richmond, VA, while Gilliland will intern in Manhattan, NY and Chicago, IL. The students will be paired with a NAPSLO member insurance company and with a NAPSLO member brokerage.
Nick Andrews, of Monroeville, and Sam Glusman, of Mobile, will intern with Hull and Company. Founded in 1962, Hull & Company is licensed as a general lines, surplus lines, and life and health agency and transacts business exclusively on a wholesale basis. It has branch offices in 17 states and does business in all 50 states. Andrews will intern in its Fort Lauderdale, FL office while Glusman will intern in its Charlotte office.
Cody Lowrey, of Jemison, will intern with MetLife in Montgomery. MetLife is a leading provider of insurance and financial services throughout the United States, as well as direct insurance operations in Asia Pacific, Latin America and Europe.
“These internships provide our students with the valuable, hands-on experience they need in order to be competitive when they graduate,” said Dr. Carol Jordan, eminent scholar of risk management and insurance. “Many times, these internships become offers for full-time employment for our students.”
