Two Troy University professors to serve on national board

TROY, Ala. – Two Troy University art and design professors were recently elected to positions on the board of the national association of Foundations in Art: Theory and Education (FATE).

Board members and officers were elected during the organization’s national biennial conference earlier this month.

Jerry Johnson, chair of TROY’s Department of Art and Design, was re-elected as vice president for communications, while Greg Skaggs, assistant professor, was elected as the organization’s representative to the Southeastern College Art Conference.

Johnson, who has been a member of the TROY faculty since 2000, holds a bachelor’s degree in commercial art and a master’s degree in Art Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and a master’s degree in graphic design from Louisiana Tech University. He previously served as chair of the Department of Art at Southern Arkansas University and as a visiting lecturer at Oklahoma State University.

Skaggs, a member of the TROY faculty since 2005, holds a bachelor’s degree in graphic design and a bachelor’s degree in art education from the University of Central Oklahoma and a master’s degree in painting and mixed media from the University of Oklahoma. He has taught art at the public school level, the technical college level and the university level. He has won numerous honors for both his fine art work and his graphic design work.
