TROY, Ala.—Troy University’s Phenix City Campus will host a continuing education workshop for area teachers on the use of SMART Board interactive whiteboards and other technology in the classroom.
The workshop will be held on Saturday, Jan. 9, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. inside the Education Building, room 128/130.
Replacing the traditional classroom whiteboard, SMART Boards allow teachers to save and print their notes, incorporate software like Google Earth and Power Point into lessons and can include student work on the board.
During the workshop, teachers will learn how to use SMART Board equipment, how to rethink displaying their notes and how to make movies using the Notebook10 software, among other topics.
The workshop will be taught by Ben Baker, Jr., a 6th grade teacher at the Phenix City Intermediate School who has been training teachers in the Russell County and Phenix City School Systems about SMART Board technology for the last five years.
The registration fee is $45. For more information, call 334-448-5102
