DOTHAN—Local musicians looking for a way to practice, perform and fellowship with other music lovers are invited to join the Troy University Community Band of Dothan.

The TROY Community Band is a group of musicians of all ages and backgrounds, including many TROY alumni, united by a common love of music. The group performs year-round at venues throughout the Wiregrass.

“The community band is a great opportunity for people who have played in the past and would like to resume playing, people who currently play and are looking for a place to play and band students looking to supplement their school music activities,” said band director Andy Fariss.

The group practices on Mondays at Honeysuckle Middle School from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The band gives several annual performances including a spring concert at the TROY Dothan Campus, a summer concert at Landmark Park and a Christmas concert.

Anyone interested in joining is asked to contact Bob Willis, dean of student services, at 334-983-9556, ext. 206, or via email at
