10:30 a.m.: Spring Commencement begins at 10:30 a.m. in Sartain Hall. The commencement keynote address will be delivered by Major General Arthur M. Bartell, commanding general of the Army Cadet Command who directs all Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) units in the United States. About 600 students representing 23 states and 13 nations outside the United States will be participating in graduation exercises. Media should be in place no later than 10:15 a.m. to cover this event.
1:30 p.m.: Groundbreaking ceremony for new dining hall facility. This facility will greatly expand the University’s food service capabilities for the students of the Troy Campus. The ceremony will take place near the intersection of University Avenue and Luther Drive and adjacent to the Hawkins-Adams-Long Hall of Honor. Media should be in place no later than 1:15 p.m. to cover this event.
2 p.m.: ROTC commissioning ceremony in the Trojan Center Theater. Fourteen cadets will commission as second lieutenants in either the U.S. Army or the Army National Guard. Major General Bartell will participate in this ceremony.
2 p.m.: The University’s Board of Trustees will convene immediately following the groundbreaking ceremony in the third-floor conference room of Hawkins Hall.
