MONTGOMERY—Congressman Bobby Bright will deliver the keynote address to graduates during the summer commencement ceremony at Troy University’s Montgomery Campus on Monday, July 26.
The ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. inside the Davis Theatre for the Performing Arts. About 130 students will receive graduate and undergraduate degrees this semester at the Montgomery Campus.
Bright was elected in 2009 to represent Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Prior to that, he served nine years as the mayor of Montgomery.
Bright’s tenure as mayor was marked by strong economic development and the revitalization Montgomery’s downtown and riverfront.
As a member of Congress, Bright serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the Agriculture and Small Business Committees.
A native of Dale County, Bright attend Enterprise State Junior College and later Auburn University. He earned a master’s degree in criminal justice from Troy University and a law degree from the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law.
