ALBANY—Troy University’s Albany Site will hold its fall 2010 commencement ceremony at Albany’s Mount Zion Baptist Church at 10 a.m. on Dec. 18.
Recently retired Dougherty County School System Superintendent Dr. Sally Whatley will deliver the commencement address.
Dr. Whatley is an alumnus of the University of Georgia where she received her bachelor’s degree in 1977, her master’s degree in 1983 and her doctorate in 1987.
She served as Dougherty County System superintendent from 2001-2010. She also previously served as the deputy superintendent of curriculum and instruction for Dougherty County from 1995-2001 and was a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Georgia from 1984-1986.
In 1986, Dr. Whatley won the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award at the University of Georgia, and in 2010, she received the university’s Edward A. Freeman Outstanding Alumni Award.
