TROY—Troy University will focus on contracting with the federal government during a one-day conference for small businesses.
The University’s Procurement Technical Assistance Center will host the conference, with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9 at the Central Activities Center in Phenix City. There is a $20 registration fee.
Susan D. Baxter, senior business development specialist with Alabama’s U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) District Office in Birmingham, is the presenter for the series.
Mrs. Baxter has worked for the SBA since 1977. She has extensive experience providing training and assistance on SBA’s certification programs, including 8(a) Business Development and HUBZone. Mrs. Baxter also provides guidance and assistance on teaming arrangement issues as it has become an important element of both the 8(a), WOSB & HUBZone programs.
“Mrs. Baxter will cover the certification programs – who qualifies, possible benefits, and how to obtain the certification. She will also cover teaming and joint venturing arrangements as they relate to the 8(a) and HUBZone programs. This session will also be relevant for those interested in teaming arrangements involving service disabled veteran-owned small businesses,” said Judy Callin, a senior consultant with TROY’s Small Business Development Center.
Lunch is included as part of the fee.
