TROY—The Troy University Board of Trustees will celebrate the legacy of longtime Trojans Football Coach Larry Blakeney with an appreciation roast on Saturday, April 16, at the Renaissance Hotel in Montgomery.

A reception will start at 5:30 p.m. followed by the dinner and roast at 6:30 p.m. Single tickets for the roast are $50 and are on sale now. Reserved tables and sponsorship opportunities are also available. For more information, contact the TROY Office of Development at 334-241-9502 or 334-670-3608, or email

Proceeds from the roast will support the construction of a new football complex at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The facility will provide a new home for Trojan football operations, a new locker room and additional premium seating.

Sportswriter and CBS College Sports broadcaster Tony Barnhart will emcee the roast.

The evening will honor Blakeney for his more than 20 years as head coach of the TROY football team and his four decades of involvement in football in Alabama.

Blakeney is the third-longest tenured college football coach in the country and fourth all-time in wins in Alabama. He has guided the Trojans to 14 winning seasons, including six seasons of 10 or more wins.
