TROY—Troy University officials have named Dr. Janet McNellis as the new Associate Dean of the Graduate School.
Though Dr. McNellis is new to her role in the Graduate School, she has been with TROY for 12 years as an associate professor in the College of Education.
"The Graduate School is pleased to welcome Dr. Janet McNellis to her new role of Associate Dean of the Graduate School," said Dr. Dianne Barron, Associate Provost and Dean of the Graduate School. "Over the years Dr. McNellis has served on and chaired numerous College and University-wide committees relating directly to the Graduate School, including the Graduate Council, Institutional Review Board (IRB) and the Thesis Revisions Guidelines Committee. Dr. McNellis will be a wonderful asset to the Graduate School, particularly as Troy University develops its doctoral role as a Level V institution."
Dr. McNellis also served as Program Coordinator and Institutional Effectiveness Coordinator for the College of Education's masters program.
"Additionally, she has devoted much of her time to organizing and improving Troy University's Institutional Review Board, serving as Chair of the Board for nine years, and as Human Protections Administrator," Barron said.
Prior to coming to TROY, Dr. McNellis was the project coordinator for several large federal grants while working at the University of Florida.
Her current research interests are in adult education, including the benefits and challenges of different course delivery models, student retention, and International student issues.
"I am thrilled and honored to be able to serve TROY in this new capacity," she said. "TROY is a dynamic place and I am excited about contributing to the changes."
