TROY—Troy University has unveiled a free mobile application that will make key information available via mobile devices, according to Ronnie Creel, Director of Education Technology for eTROY, the University's distance learning division.

Creel said the app was made available Jan. 5 for trademarked Apple products such as iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch. He added that the Android and Blackberry version of the mobile app is in development.

"This app is designed to help students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of Troy University by providing much of the information they need at their fingertips," Creel said. "Our goal was to develop a practical app that would help a wide range of constituents."

The app enables students to work in online classes, provides academic course information and campus maps and includes a faculty and staff directory with telephone numbers and email addresses. The app also includes University news and athletics information and much more.

A committee comprised of personnel from the Department of Educational Technology and the Office of Marketing and Communication began developing the app in June, Creel said.
