TROY - The Troy University Concert Chorale will present its annual free fall concert at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 19 at Bush Memorial Baptist Church.
The Concert Chorale, which consists of 36 singers, will be joined by a string quartet featuring Peter Povey and Delyana Lazarova on violins; Dawn Heese, viola; and Katerina Juraskova, cello on the “Mass in G" by Franz Schubert. This small masterwork features student soloists as well.
“We are thrilled to be able to perform a beautiful, small jewel masterwork," said Diane Orlofsky, conductor of the Concert Chorale. “The piece takes about 24 minutes to perform and it is a perfect example of the delicacy, lyricism and expressiveness of Schubert's music. We are also looking forward to working with these wonderful string players."
Continuing the theme of musical collaborations, members of the TROY Dance Theatre will provide a dance interpretation of the choral piece, “Locus Iste," composed by Paul Mealor.
“I thought it appropriate to program this contemporary choral piece which is based upon an ancient text used for dedicating a new sanctuary. We are looking forward to moving into a new facility at Troy University for music and dance and this piece symbolizes our excitement and anticipation for the future," Orlofsky said.
The Concert Chorale will also be joined by the choirs of Wallace Community College of Dothan, Claudia Bryan, Conductor, and Chipola College of Marianna, Dale Heidebrecht, Conductor, on Steve Danyew's piece, “Filled with His Voice," and Moses Hogan's arrangement of “The Battle of Jericho."
