TROY – Troy University students participating in commencement exercises will hear from a fellow graduate during ceremonies on May 8 inside Trojan Arena.

Some 885 students, representing 29 states and 13 countries, will receive their degrees in the 10 a.m. exercises. The event is ticketed.

Mac-Jane Chukwu, a graduate student in International Relations with a focus in National Security Affairs from Lagos, Nigeria and author of "Open Secret" and "My Father's Girlfriend," will deliver the keynote address. Named TROY's Most Outstanding Woman for 2015, Chukwu hopes to become the first female and youngest president of Nigeria.

With a background in media production with Ficomms International, Chukwu founded the Lagos-based Tower of Hope Tea Club, a foundation to help troubled street girls. At TROY, she is executive vice president of the International Student Cultural Organization, and has been a graduate assistant in the Office of Career Services. She has also served as an officer of the Troy African Students Association and played an instrumental role in the University's International Women's Forum.
