DOTHAN - Officials with Michelin North America today presented $150,000 to Troy University to fund the creation of an innovative space for entrepreneurial collaboration and creativity at the Dothan Campus.

The gift will support creation of a "whiteboard room" inside the soon-to-be-built Coleman Hall as part of the University's Center for Entrepreneurship and Economic Innovation. "The room will be uniquely designed to accommodate meetings between entrepreneurs in an environment that encourages creativity and energy," said Dr. Skip Ames, vice chancellor for the Dothan Campus.

"The room will be equipped with whiteboards and mobile furniture that will allow entrepreneurs to move around and do creative, free-flow thinking without being bounded by their environment," said Dr. Ames. "We could not think of a better company than Michelin to partner with to develop this room, which will be a one-of-a-kind resource for entrepreneurs in the Wiregrass."

The presentation was made during a ceremony that featured remarks from Dr. Ames and Phillip Kelley, human resources manager for Michelin North America's Dothan manufacturing facility.

"Michelin has been committed to Dothan, Ala., and the Wiregrass region for more than 35 years," said Leesa Owens, director of community relations for Michelin North America. "We are excited to continue our partnership with Troy University through this new collaboration room that will facilitate entrepreneurship and innovation for many years to come."

TROY's Center for Entrepreneurship and Economic Innovation provides an academic home for students along with outreach and economic development assistance to the Wiregrass. Multi-disciplined in nature, the Center's mission supports entrepreneurship not only in the business field, but in the fields of arts and sciences, communication and fine arts and education.
