TROY - Gov. Robert Bentley has reappointed State Sen. Gerald Dial to a 12-year term on the Troy University Board of Trustees. Dial currently serves as president pro-tempore of the Board.
Dial's re-appointment must be confirmed by the Alabama Senate, but the governor's appointment is effective Oct. 25.
"Sen. Dial's reappointment is good news for the Troy University family. His leadership and vision as President Pro Tem have allowed us to continue a long-standing tradition of having a cohesive, cooperative Board that pulls together for the good of the University and its students," said Dr. Jack Hawkins Jr., Chancellor.
A Lineville native, Dial has been a trustee of the University since 1991. He is a former teacher and coach at Lineville High School. He has been involved in the real estate business, and served in the Alabama House of Representatives from 1974-1982, before being elected to the Alabama Senate. He was a member of the Alabama National Guard for more than 36 years, retiring in 1997 as Assistant Adjutant General. He is a past executive director of the Rural Alabama Action Commission, and currently represents District 13 in the Senate.
"It is a great honor to continue working with the Troy University Board of Trustees as we seek to help TROY expand its service to students in Alabama and around the world," Dial said.
