TROY - The Troy University Symphony Band will present "Reflection on the Mississippi" in its second concert of the year at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19 in Claudia Crosby Theater.
Dr. Joseph W. Skillen, a professor of tuba at Louisiana State University, will be featured in the performance of Michael Daughtery’s new tuba concerto, "Reflection on the Mississippi."
The Symphony Band will also perform "The President's Own" by John Williams, "Symphony No. 2" by John Barnes Chance, "Elegy for a Young American" by Ronald Lo Presti, "American Hymsong Suite" Dwayne Milburn, "Easter Monday on the White House Law" by John Phillip Sousa, and "Epiphanies: Fanfares and Chorales" by Ron Nelson.
Guest conductors Dr. Larry Blocher, Dean of the College of Communication and Fine Arts and Director of the John M. Long School of Music, and graduate assistant Doug Dobos will be featured during the performance.
The concert is free and open to the public, and will last about one hour, said Dr. Mark Walker, Director of Bands.
