TROY - The Sorrell College of Business at Troy University will get a little GEEK-y on the Quad as the college hosts its annual GEEK Fest on April 20.

Headlining this year's program will be the band Blackberry Breeze, playing from the steps of Bibb Graves Hall, the home to the Sorrell College.

Geek Fest is an event for current Sorrell College students and prospective students that provides an opportunity for networking and to learn more about the opportunities offered within the college.

"Students who graduate from the Sorrell College of Business will be 'GEEKS' - globally aware, engaged with the business community, ethical decision makers, knowledgeable to compete and overall successful," said Dr. Judson Edwards, Dean of the Sorrell College.

Edwards said the GEEKS campaign was really about raising student awareness of the college's strategic initiatives.

"Our faculty and staff work every day to instill these important traits represented by the GEEKS slogan into our students. In the end, it is my hope that our collective efforts in meaningful teaching, engaging, caring and scholarship will produce graduates with a strong foundation for successful careers and rewarding lives," he said.

Several local businesses are stepping in to help sponsor the activity including Troy Bank and Trust, Horn Beverage and Chick-Fil-A. Students can enter the GEEK contest to win Barnes and Noble Book Scholarships as well.
