Montgomery, AL - Troy University's Montgomery Campus is pleased to announce the grand opening celebration of the new Trojan Cafe proudly serving Starbucks™ in downtown Montgomery on Thursday, April 28, at 9 a.m. Mayor Todd Strange, as well as dignitaries from Troy University, Barnes & Noble College and the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce will be in attendance.
"Troy University Montgomery has long been at the forefront of the downtown revitalization efforts in Montgomery," said Dr. Lance Tatum, Vice Chancellor of the Montgomery Campus. "The addition of the Cafe allows the University to expand our reach into the business community, allowing individuals visiting our campus to experience what we have to offer and showcase our beautiful campus. The addition of the Cafe and access to a full menu of Starbucks™ products will prove to be a popular destination for anyone visiting downtown Montgomery."
Located inside of Whitley Hall on Montgomery Street, directly across from Troy University's Rosa Parks Library and Museum, the new cafe is part of the continued revitalization of downtown Montgomery that has included a new baseball stadium, restaurants, hotels, businesses and apartments over the past decade. The cafe will be a welcomed addition, providing a much-needed coffee establishment and cafe that currently does not exist in the downtown area.
Utilizing beautiful interior graphics and photo murals, the newly renovated space will highlight Troy University and pay homage to Rosa Parks, "Mother of the Civil Rights Movement." The cafe will proudly offer a variety of Starbucks™ beverages and an assortment of sandwiches, soups, pastries and snacks to students, faculty and staff, as well as the local downtown community and visitors to the museum. The 25-seat cafe will also provide window seating with charging stations as well as a large ‘community table' that will serve as a convenient meeting place for local organizations and groups. In addition, the new cafe will also be the official dining option for Troy Montgomery students.
"The Trojan Cafe will be a great addition to downtown Montgomery and the Troy University Montgomery Campus community," said Patrick Maloney, President of Barnes & Noble College. "The new cafe and community space will become a neighborhood destination that will draw students and faculty, as well as the local community and visitors to the downtown area. We couldn't be more excited to be a part of the continued revitalization of historic Montgomery."
