Scholarship Information

Troy University awards an array of scholarships exclusively to incoming freshman, some that are renewable for four years. Students accepted for admission must apply through AcademicWorks to be given consideration for these competitive Freshman Scholarships. All of these scholarships, unless otherwise specified, are limited to Troy University’s main campus in Troy, AL.


Academic Scholarships

  • The award amount varies from $11,000- $15,000 annually
  • The academic requirements are 32 ACT /or 1470 RSAT and 3.7 GPA
  • An essay will be required with the scholarship application
  • Application deadline is January 15
  • The award amount varies from $7,000- $10,000 annually
  • Requirements are 28 ACT / or 1320 RSAT and 3.5 GPA
  • An essay will be required with the scholarship application
  • Application deadline is January 15


Auxiliary Scholarships

  • The amount of this award is equal to the out-of-state portion of tuition costs.
  • Requirements are 3.0 GPA/4.0 scale and a 22 ACT
  • Applicants must be from out-of-state
  • Application deadline is August 1
  • $1,000 Non-Renewable
  • Requires student to be unconditionally admitted with at least a 3.0 GPA/4.0 scale
  • Must be or have been a participant & attendee of Alabama Girls State Program
  • Application deadline January 15


Leadership Scholarships

  • Requirements are 23 ACT or/ 1140 RSAT with 3.0 GPA
  • The amount of this competitive scholarship varies.
  • Application deadline January 15
  • $1,000 Non-renewable
  • Requires student to be unconditionally admitted to TROY with at least a 3.0 GPA/4.0 scale
  • Must be or have been a participant & attendee of the HOBY Conference at TROY.
  • Application deadline January 15


Online Learner

Troy University has an established and growing number of corporate partners that they have joined with to provide opportunities for its employees to achieve personal and professional growth through TROY’s undergraduate and graduate degree programs.   • The amount for Undergraduate students awarded this scholarship is equal to one three credit hour course in their first term if they enroll in at least two three credit hour courses, and one three credit hour course in their final term as they prepare to complete their degree.
  • Student must be a first time enrollee to TROY
  • Freshman must have a high school GPA of at least a 2.5 / GED recipients must have minimum score of a 550
  • Organization must be a current, official partner with Troy University
  • Applicant/Student must be a full-time employee of associated partner
  • Students seeking associate degrees or certificates are not eligible
  • Students must enroll in the term (9-week) format (Online and In-Class: TROY Online, Montgomery, Dothan, and Phenix City)
  • Troy main campus students are ineligible

The Horizon scholarship is designed to encourage adult students who are returning to college to complete their degree.

  • The amount for Undergraduate students awarded this scholarship is equal to one three credit hour course in their first term if they enroll in at least two three credit hour courses, and one three credit hour course in their final term as they prepare to complete their degree.
  • Student must be a first time enrollee to TROY
  • Freshman must have a high school GPA of at least a 2.5 / GED recipients must have minimum score of a 550
  • Students seeking associate degrees or certificates are not eligible
  • Students must enroll in the term (9-week) format (Online and In-Class: TROY Online, Montgomery, Dothan, and Phenix City)
  • Troy main campus students are ineligible
  • $2,500 scholarship annually for 2 years
  • Awarded to students with a 3.5 GPA or higher
  • This scholarship will only be available to those students who have completed at least 45 hours of transferable academic credit (non-technical) coursework.
  • Application deadline is May 1st
  • $2,000 scholarship annually for 2 years
  • Awarded to students with a 3.25 GPA
  • This scholarship will only be available to those students who have completed at least 45 hours of transferable academic credit (non-technical) coursework
  • Application deadline is May 1st
