The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Global Business and a concentration in finance provides a foundation to understand a broad range of financial management skills that are essential for students to become ethical professionals to compete in the global business environment. As prerequisites, students in this program should be familiar with principles of accounting, principles of economics, business calculus and business statistics.
This program is offered in a blended format, which means a combination of online and in-class courses may be required.
Students will be required to complete credits from the areas of financial management, investments and financial institutions. This program will prepare students to understand how corporate managers make financial decisions and respond efficiently to the challenges within the corporate world. Use skills you’ve developed at TROY to pursue a career as a financial analyst or a financial manager. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the 2012 national median salary for a financial analyst was $76,950 per year. The BLS also reports the field is projected to see a 16 percent increase between 2012-22. According to the BLS, financial managers are projected to see a 9 percent growth in their field. In 2012, the BLS reported the national median average for a financial manager was $109,740 per year.
There are many additional opportunities for students who are interested in financial certification. These certifications include a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), a CFP (Certified Financial Planner), a CHFP (Chartered Financial Planner), a CFMP (Certified Financial Marketing Professional) and a CTFA (Certified Trust Financial Analyst).
