Troy Campus Scholarships

Troy University will accept both the previous SAT and the redesigned SAT (taken since March 2016). For scholarships the highest SAT scores will be determined by utilizing test score conversions set by College Board. SAT scores required for Admissions and scholarships only include the critical reading and math, no writing.

Foundation Scholarships are generously donated to the University at various amounts with various requirements per the donors' discretion. Each applicant is allowed to apply for three Foundation Scholarships, with the possibility of being awarded only one. These scholarships are only for students attending the Troy, Alabama campus. The listing of the available 2016-2017 Foundation Scholarships will be located in a pdf document below during the first week of February 2016. After reviewing the available awards please submit your online Foundation Scholarship application by completing the application listed below and selecting the three Foundation awards you wish to be reviewed for.

Academic scholarships are based solely on academic performance.

The Millennium Scholar's Award

Pays full tuition, room and board. Requirements are 32 ACT and/or 1420 Old SAT 1 (CR & M only) or 1470 New SAT and 3.7 GPA (4.0 scale) or a National Merit Finalist.

Application deadline is March 1st.

The Chancellor's Award

Pays full tuition. Requirements are 28 ACT and/or 1260 Old SAT 1 (CR & M only) or 1320 New SAT and 3.5 GPA (4.0 scale).

The Transfer Merit and Transfer Achievement Scholarship

A Transfer Merit Scholarship is awarded for students with a 3.5 GPA or higher and would provide a $3,000 scholarship, while a Transfer Achievement Scholarship for $2,000 is available to students with a 3.25 GPA. This scholarship will only be available to those students who have completed at least 45 hours of transferable academic credit (non-technical) coursework.

In addition to all Alabama Community College transfer students, students transferring from the following institutions will also be eligible for the award: Bainbridge College (Ga.), Central Texas College (TX), Chipola College (Fla.), Columbus Technical College (Ga.), Gulf Coast State College (Fla.), Northwest Florida State College, Pensacola State College (Fla.), and Pikes Peak Community College (CO).

The Alumni Association Endowment Scholarship

Half-Tuition Requirements: Unconditionally Admitted to TROY; Leadership Achievements; Preference is given to student whose family members hold a degree from TROY and are active members of the National Alumni Association. Application deadline is March 1st.

The Heritage Scholarship

$500 Non-Renewable Requirements: Unconditionally Admitted to TROY with at least a 3.0 GPA/4.0scale; Applicant must be dependent child of Alumni; Must not be receiving additional institutional scholarships or employee tuition assistance. Application deadline is March 1st.

Alumni Scholarship Application

The Trojan Opportunity Scholarship

The amount of this award varies. Requirements: Unconditionally Admitted to TROY with at least a 3.0 GPA/4.0 scale; Must submit resume of leadership activities. Applicants must be from out-of-state with preference given to applicants from Florida & Georgia. Application deadline March 1st.

The Trojan Opportunity Expanded Scholarship

The amount of this award is equal to the out-of-state portion of tuition costs. Requirements: Unconditionally Admitted to TROY with at least a 3.0 GPA/4.0 scale and a 22 ACT/1030 Old SAT or 1110 New SAT; Must submit resume of leadership activities; Applicants must be from out-of-state.

The Alabama Girls State Scholarship

$1,000 Non-Renewable.
Requirements: Unconditionally Admitted to TROY with at least a 3.0 GPA/4.0 scale; Must be or have been a participant & attendee of Alabama Girls State Program. Application deadline March 1st.

Auxiliary Scholarship Application

Leadership scholarships are based upon achievement in leadership positions in high school and junior or community college. Selection is generally based on an overall evaluation of the student's accomplishments by the Committee.

Excellence in Leadership Award

The amount of these awards varies. Deadline is March 1st of students Senior Year. Requirements are 23 ACT and/or 1070 Old SAT 1 (CR & M only) or 1140 New SAT and 3.0 GPA (4.0 scale). Requirements also include a 1-2 page resume of leadership activities. Applicant must mail their resume to the Office of Admissions. Please use the following resume template for your Excellence in Leadership resume. Please limit your resume to 1-2 pages maximum. Mail your completed resume to:

Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) Scholarship

$1,000 Non-renewable
Requirements:
Unconditionally Admitted to TROY with at least a 3.0 GPA/4.0 scale; Must be or have been a participant & attendee of the HOBY Conference at TROY. Application deadline March 1st.

Phi Theta Kappa Award

Award is $1,100 per year. Each Alabama junior/community college chapter of Phi Theta Kappa may annually select and nominate one student. Two years of complete academic work, 3.5 GPA (4.0 scale); nomination letter from Phi Theta Kappa advisor.

Leadership Scholarship Application

Music Scholarships

Troy University awards a limited number of music scholarships. Students interested in band scholarships should write Director of Bands, Troy University, Troy, Alabama 36082. Army ROTC Four-Year Scholarship

The Army ROTC Four-Year Scholarship program is available to students who have graduated from high school or possess an equivalent certificate before September of the year they enter college. Students are awarded U.S. Army ROTC 4-year scholarships through a highly competitive national selection process. Scholarships pay full college tuition and mandatory educational fees, OR room and board, whichever is chosen by the student.Applicants should contact the Army ROTC scholarship and enrollment officer for more information. Air Force ROTC College Scholarship Program

High School Students: Full four-year and 3 year Air Force College Scholarships are available to qualified high school seniors. Those persons interested must apply directly to AFROTC Headquarters, Maxwell, AL 36112 by October 1st of each year.

General Military Scholarships

Three-year (sophomore, junior, & senior) and two-year (junior & senior) scholarships are available to qualified college students, both in the flying and non-flying areas, who are enrolled in the four-year or two-year ROTC program.

Nursing Scholarships

Several scholarships are available to those students who are admitted to the nursing programs. In addition, a number of $600 per year state nursing scholarships are available. Interested students should contact The School of Nursing,Troy University, Troy, Alabama 36082.

Athletic Scholarships

Theatre and Dance Scholarships

Each year the Department of Theatre and Dance awards over $100,000 in scholarships to performers, technicians, designers, and other deserving students who plan to study Theatre or Dance at TROY. The Troy University Military and Family Scholarship has been established to recognize the service of U.S. Active Military, Reserve and National Guard members by offering a scholarship to the service member, their spouse and/or dependent children.

The Scholarship reduces tuition to $250 per credit hour at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for this scholarship, the student must meet the following:

  • Must be currently serving in the active or reserve component of the US military or
  • Must be the spouse or dependent child of a currently serving service member, including National Guard and Reserves.
  • Enrollment Status: Applicant or Enrolled
  • Degree program level: Associate, Undergraduate, Graduate, or Doctoral
  • Service members need not submit an application for the scholarship (the military TA form will serve as your application). Members who have exhausted their military TA funding or decide not to utilize TA funding, should request the scholarship via email to fosterc@troy.edu or frederic@troy.edu. All eligibility requirements and award details for the TROY Military & Family Scholarship apply to service members.
  • Scholarship Application must be received 2 weeks prior to the start of the Term or Semester for which the dependent is applying for the scholarship.
  • Must submit completed Verification of Spouse or Dependent Status form to the Scholarship Coordinator no later than two (2) weeks prior to the start of the semester/term. Re-validation will be required each year not later than July, 31 to maintain scholarship. Download "Request for Verification of Spouse or Dependent Status" Form
  • Maintain a 2.0 Cumulative GPA at the Undergraduate level or a 3.0 Cumulative GPA at the Graduate level throughout the degree program.

Award Details:

  • This scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other scholarship or tuition assistance awarded by Troy University, VA, or State benefits (excluding 1606 & 1607).
  • Amount of award will be dependent on the number of credit hours the scholarship recipient registers for each semester or term.
  • Amount of award will not exceed the credit hour requirements of the student’s initial program. Should the student change their degree program, they will be held to their original degree programs credit hour requirement.
  • Scholarship can only be used toward one degree at each level (one associate’s, one bachelor’s degree, one master’s degree, and one doctorate degree)
