50 Years of Journalism Education

The Hall School of Journalism and Communication will begin its yearlong 50th anniversary celebration on Friday, Oct. 8, with the unveiling of a new slogan and design, followed by a master class with a successful alumna of the program.

As part of a slogan and design contest spearheaded by TROY Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., the Hall School welcomed creative ideas from students, alumni, faculty and staff as an engaging way to commemorate the last 50 years of training ethical and trustworthy journalists while setting the tone for the Hall School’s future endeavors.

Winners of the contest will be recognized at a morning event at 9 a.m. on the Quad on Troy University’s campus before students and guests head inside the Claudia Crosby Theater at 10 a.m. for an interactive master class with two-time Hall School graduate Meagan Hart Dorsey.

Dorsey earned her bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism and her master’s degree in strategic communication from TROY and has had an impressive career spanning the industries of journalism, non-profit organizations, celebrity publicity, communication and education. Currently, Dorsey is the public information officer for Dothan City Schools.
