Military and Family Scholarship

Actively Serving Military
Eligibility Requirements and Application Details: 
  • Currently serving in the active or reserve component of the U.S. Military.
  • Service members using Military TA will not need to submit an application for the scholarship. They will need to submit their approved TA form to taforms@troy.edu. The Military TA form will serve as the scholarship application. Members who have exhausted their military TA funding or decide not to utilize their TA may request the scholarship by emailing taforms@troy.edu. The request should include a current LES (personal information redacted) or similar to verify their active-duty status, along with their student ID number, expected start date, military branch and military status. 
  • Must be an applicant to or enrolled at any Troy University location. 
  • Applicable for Associate, Undergraduate, Graduate or Doctoral degrees.
Award Details: 
  • This scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other scholarship or tuition assistance awarded by Troy University, VA Benefits (exception VA 1606/1607), or certain State benefits.
  • Amount of award will be dependent on the number of credit hours the scholarship recipient registers for each semester or term.
  • Scholarship can only be used toward one degree at each level (one associate's, one bachelor's degree, one master's degree and one doctorate).
  • If you have additional questions, please email scholarships@troy.edu or call 1-800-414-5756 and ask to be directed to our Scholarship Management Specialist.
Spouses and Dependents
Eligibility Requirements and Application Details: 
  • Must be the spouse or dependent child of a currently serving service member, including National Guard and Reserves.
  • Must complete Verification of Spouse or Dependent Status form in the Scholarship Portal prior to the start of the semester/term. Re-validation will be required each academic year not later than July, 31 to maintain scholarship. Download "Request for Verification of Spouse or Dependent Status" Form.
  • Must be an applicant to or enrolled at any Troy University location. 
  • Applicable for Associate, Undergraduate, Graduate or Doctoral degrees.

Award Details: 
  • This scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other scholarship or tuition assistance awarded by Troy University, VA Benefits (exception VA 1606/1607), or certain State benefits.

The MyCAA program provides financial assistance to help military spouses pursue education in portable career fields. If you're a spouse of an active-duty service member or an activated National Guard or Reserve member, you're eligible. TA Information and Deadlines

For any questions regarding military tuition assistance, please email taforms@troy.edu.
Army
  • Annual Cap: $4,500 or 18 semester hours
  • Application Window: Submit TA request via ArmyIgnitED no earlier than 60 days and no later than seven days before the course start date. 
  • Requirements
    • First-time TA users must complete ArmyIgnitED training. 
    • Use the decision support tool before requesting TA.
Marine Corps
  • Annual Cap: $4,500
  • Application Window: Submit TA requests via WebTA no earlier than 60 days and no later than one day before the course start date.
  • Requirements
    • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher for undergraduate studies after completing 15 semester hours, or a GPA of 3.0 or higher for graduate studies after completing six semester hours.
Navy
  • Annual Cap: $4,500 or 18 semester hours
  • Application Window: Submit TA applications via MyNavy Education no earlier than 120 days and no later than seven days before the course start date.
  • Requirements
    • Courses must be command-approved within the specified window.
Air Force and Space Force
  • Annual Cap: $4,500
  • Application Window: Submit TA requests via the Air Force Virtual Education Center (AFVEC) up to 45 days before the course start date.
  • Requirements
    • An official evaluated degree plan is required after the first two classes.
Coast Guard
  • Annual Cap: $4,500
  • Application Window: A complete TA application submitted per course must be received by ETQC no less than seven days before the class start date and up to 90 days prior to the course start date. Do not include the submission date to ETQC or the class start date within the seven-day calculation.
  • Requirements
    • An acceptable degree plan is required after completing the second course or six semester hours.
