Middle School SEUS Honor Bands

December 5 – 7, 2019

                                      MIDDLE SCHOOL SEUS CHOSEN PARTICIPANTS

The Southeastern United States Honor Bands will be held on December 5 – 7, 2019 and will feature three groups of approximately 100 musicians each. 

Students will be accepted on director’s recommendation. A limit of 15 students nominated per school is suggested; remember those nominated should be your best musicians. EACH SCHOOL THAT APPLIES WILL BE GUARANTEED AT LEAST ONE STUDENT ACCEPTED; however, based on instrumentation needs, we reserve the right to accept more or less than the suggested limit of nominations.

Directors should fill out an application form for each student and then submit the completed applications in order of ability. There will be a space for ranking each student on the application form. Percussionists should be listed by instrument (Timpani, Mallets, Snare). List the accomplishments of each student (all-state, district, solo/ensemble, etc. ) on the back of the application sheet. Student enrollment is restricted to grades 6th through 8th; however, all students should be involved in their second year of instruction. NINTH GRADERS MAY BE INCLUDED ONLY IF THEY ARE ENROLLED IN A JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL.

CHAIR AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

Chair placement will be based on the live audition on December 5, 2019.  Registration for all honor band participants will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2019, at 2:00 p.m.  After completing the registration process, you will be instructed on where your instrument is being auditioned. Participants scoring the highest audition scores will be placed in the Gold Band. The Cardinal and Silver bands will be of equal ability.  Band rosters and seating charts will be posted on the front doors of the Hawkins Adams Long Hall of Honor and on the front doors of Claudia Crosby Theatre following the Thursday night concert.

EXPENSES 

The cost per student is $70.00. DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY UNTIL NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE IS RECEIVED.  Please note that motel reservations and transportation to and from the University are the responsibility of the parent/guardian or band director.  Further information will be provided to those students who are selected for the honor bands.
