Sound of the South Trojan Band Day

On behalf of The Troy University “Sound of the South,” in conjunction with Trojan
is my privilege to invite you to Trojan Band Day 2021. Band Day will take place on Saturday,
October 9, 2021 at Troy University’s Veterans Memorial Stadium. For those of you who have
attended Band Day in the past, we welcome you to return to Troy University. If you are
considering participation for the first time, we welcome you and your students to this great
event that will prove to be memorable, and inspiring to all your staff and band students. This
year, your band, staff, and chaperones will be our distinguished guests for an exciting
competition on the gridiron between our Troy University Trojans and the Georgia Southern
Eagles from the Georgia Southern University. Your band will participate in the Trojan Victory
March Parade before kick-off and also participate in a mass-band performance led by the
“Sound of the South” on the football field during half-time!
If you are interested in participating, please complete and mail, or fax, the Intent
form on or before Monday, September 27, 2021. You can find this form and other information
regarding the Band Day event online at www.troy.edu/soundofthesouth. Please note, it is
VERY IMPORTANT that you provide a correct email address that you check regularly.
All information and correspondence, including music, will be sent via email and also
posted on our web site. This method of communication should be beneficial to everyone and
provide a fast turnaround time for all materials related to your Band Day performance. It is
common for last-minute changes to take place, due to a variety of reasons (television, ESPN,
the opposing school’s needs, etc.).
More information on game and morning rehearsal time will be announced at a later date.
Specific details regarding the time of the parade line up, half-time show, and stadium seating
will be emailed to you following our receipt of your Intent to Participate form. The morning
rehearsal will last approximately 45 minutes. This rehearsal allows us to make any final
adjustments that may be necessary due to last-minute changes. The “Trojan Victory March”
parade will line-up in front of Smith Hall, 3 hours before kick-off, and step off 2 hours before
kick-off. If there is time available between the rehearsal and parade line-up; I encourage you
to tour our beautiful campus, and boosters may plan lunch for their bands by organizing
picnics, etc. But, please be aware of the schedule of events. You are welcome to set up small
tents and tables. Please keep in mind, space is limited; first come, first serve. All band
members must wear their band uniforms to be admitted to the game (due to the weather, we
encourage you to use a modified uniform – khaki shorts and band t-shirts, etc.). Please limit
chaperones to 1 chaperone per 10 band students (this includes runners, bus drivers, and
parents). Group tickets prices are available, but they must be purchased before game day
through the ticket office, or online; more information regarding the Band Day promotional code
will be emailed at a later date.
