Aligned with Alabama's P-3 certification standards, this 36-hour, fully online program includes coursework in classroom management, educational psychology and the evaluation of teaching and learning. Required courses, such as Trends and Issues in Early Childhood Education and Assessment in Early Childhood Education, focus on translating theory into practice. Dr. Kelly Russell

Dr. Kelly Russell came to Troy University in 2024. Prior to this, she taught in higher education as well as public elementary schools. Her teaching experience ranges from preschoolers to graduate students. Her current research includes using children's literature in social studies and science education and creating Communities of Practice to develop rich place-based education.

Dr. Julia-Kate Rabitaille

Dr. Julia-Kate Rabitaille

Dr. Julia-Kate Rabitaille holds a Ph.D. in Literacy, Language and Culture from Clemson University as well as a B.S. in Elementary Education and M.S. in Reading Education, both from Florida State University. She spent 7.5 years teaching in rural, Title 1 elementary schools in the Florida panhandle. At TROY, Dr. Rabitaille teaches undergraduate and graduate reading methods courses and serves as program coordinator for the ALT-A Elementary Education Master's program.
